Mumbai: A 50-year-old autorickshaw driver succumbed to his injuries at the Sion Hospital five days after he was admitted following a road-related crash. Police said Amarnath Yadav had applied the brakes on his auto while moving on New Link Road, causing the vehicle to turn turtle. The Bangur Nagar Police registered a case of rash driving and negligence against him, which will be closed with his death. The road crash occurred on June 5, as per a statement given by Amarnath’s son, Rahul. Around 11.30 am, Amarnath was moving from Malad to Jogeshwari on the southbound arm of the New Link Road. He had reached the Oshiwara bus depot when he suddenly applied the brakes, causing the vehicle to turn turtle. Amarnath suffered injuries to his forehead, under his eyes, to his nose, shoulder, ribs, hip, knee, and arm. He was rushed to the Sion Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICCU. In a few days, he recovered a bit and was moved to the ward, as per Rahul’s statement. But his condition deteriorated once again. Around 11.30 pm on June 10, he passed away at the hospital.The Bangur Nagar Police was informed the next morning and recorded his son’s statement.
