PPU declares final semester results for first NEP batch

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) on Tuesday declared the results of the undergraduate Semester VI examinations for the 2023-27 academic session, making it the first graduating batch under the four-year choice-cased credit system (CBCS) introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.Vice-chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh released the results on the university portal, enabling students to access their marks online.Examination controller Manoj Kumar said PPU is the only university in Bihar to declare final semester results within the stipulated academic schedule under the NEP framework.Around 89,000 students appeared for the examinations across arts, science and commerce streams. Of them, nearly 73,000 have been declared successful. About 5,000 students will receive their final results after submitting mandatory internship certificates prescribed under the NEP curriculum, while the remaining students have been promoted as per university regulations, Kumar said. The results are significant as students securing a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 are eligible for direct admission to postgraduate programmes under the new academic structure.According to university data, 19,619 students in the arts stream secured a CGPA of 7.5 or above. In science, 17,011 students achieved the benchmark, while the highest number, 24,444 students, crossed the threshold in the commerce stream.Students who failed to secure the prescribed 7.5 CGPA may opt to exit the programme and receive an undergraduate degree under the multiple-entry and multiple-exit provisions of NEP 2020, Kumar said.Upendra said the timely declaration of results reflected the university’s commitment to implementing NEP 2020 and ensuring students do not face delays in pursuing higher studies or employment opportunities.PPU registrar Abu Baker said online publication of results would facilitate postgraduate admissions and help students plan their academic future without uncertainty.
