Patna: The NEET-UG re-examination was conducted under stringent security arrangements at 331 examination centers across 35 cities in Bihar on Sunday. Candidates underwent thorough frisking and document verification before being allowed to enter the centers.Jammers were installed at examination venues to prevent any possibility of malpractice and ensure a fair examination process. CCTV cameras have been installed at all exam centers. Furthermore, all candidates were admitted after being checked through metal detectors.A total of 1.4 lakh candidates appeared across the state. In Patna, over 40,000 candidates took the test at 95 examination centers. The examination was held from 2 pm to 5.15 pm, while candidates were allowed to enter the centers from 11 am onwards. The final entry was permitted only until 1.30 pm, after which the gates were closed. In Buxar, a candidate who arrived just two minutes late was denied entry to the examination center.Paramilitary forces were deployed at several centers to maintain security and ensure smooth conduct of the examination. The administration also made extensive arrangements for candidates and their guardians. Clean drinking water, first-aid facilities and other essential amenities were provided at all examination centers. For parents accompanying candidates, shaded waiting areas were set up at a distance of 100 metres from the centers.To prevent any attempt to influence the examination, all coaching institutes in Patna were ordered to remain closed for the day. District officials were directed to monitor coaching centers and ensure compliance with the order. Social media platforms were also kept under close surveillance.Additionally, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation operated 975 buses to provide free travel to candidates appearing for the examination. Students were allowed to travel by showing their admit cards, while accompanying family members had to pay the regular fare. A total of 1,285 candidates avail bus services, 715 city bus, 360 electric buses, 210 long route buses in Patna.Meanwhile, a guardian who travelled from Oman to Patna to support his nephew during the NEET-UG re-exam said the uncertainty surrounding the examination had severely affected students’ confidence. “My nephew had performed very well in the previous exam and was expecting a good score. But after the re-exam announcement, his confidence dropped. We kept telling him to stay focused because these decisions are beyond a student’s control,” he said.He spent nearly Rs 60,000 on travel and took leave from work in Oman despite concerns about his job security. “My brother works in railway and he was currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, so I took off to come to Patna and motivate my nephew,” he said while waiting outside Patna Miller School.
