Govt prepares standard bid document for Ayush drugs

Patna: In a move aimed at strengthening the availability of Ayush medicines in govt health facilities, Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (BMSICL) has prepared a draft standard bid document (SBD) for procurement of medicines, according to a press release issued by the health department on Sunday.Officials said this is the first time BMSICL is initiating a structured procurement process for Ayush drugs included in the state’s Essential Drug List (EDL). The corporation is expected to float tenders shortly for establishing rate contracts for nearly 600 medicines covering Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and other Ayush streams.According to BMSICL, the draft SBD was prepared to ensure a transparent and standardised procurement mechanism. The move is expected to streamline the supply of Ayush medicines to govt hospitals and health institutions across the state.Health department officials said the initiative would help improve access to traditional systems of medicine and ensure regular availability of prescribed Ayush drugs for patients. The procurement process is also expected to support the state’s efforts to integrate Ayush services into the public healthcare system and expand treatment options available at govt facilities.
