Patna: The district administration has once again extended the closure of schools up to Class VIII in all govt and private institutions, including pre-schools, till June 27.Citing prevailing heatwave conditions and the health risks posed to children, Patna district magistrate Kundan Kumar on Sunday issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, in this regard.The order will come into effect from Monday and requires school authorities to reschedule academic activities accordingly.Meanwhile, the Bihar education department has extended the special school timing in govt schools across the state till June 30. Under the arrangement, primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools will continue to function from 6.30am to 12.30pm. The schedule was earlier in effect till May 31.The department has also authorised district education officers to make necessary changes to school operations depending on local weather conditions. Schools have been directed to ensure the availability of safe drinking water and take adequate measures to protect students from heat-related illnesses.
