Apaar ID compulsory for admission in state universities

Sanjay Sahay| TNNRanchi: The state higher and technical education on Tuesday issued an order making automated permanent academic account registry (Apaar) identity (ID) compulsory for students during admission in state universities.The department has stated that the ID was necessary for academic bank of credit, national academic depository, credit transfer and multiple entry and exit facilities under the national education policy.The order stated, “It is compulsory for students to make his or her Apaar ID available during the admission process in state universities and its constituent and affiliated colleges. In absence of the ID, students would face difficulties in availing facilities of academic bank of credit, national academic depository, credit transfer and multiple entry and exit facilities.”The department has further directed that all admission in the state universities would take place through the chancellor portal adding that any offline application, admission and registration would not be recognized.When contacted, principal secretary of higher and technical education department Rahul Purwar said, “The Apaar ID has been made compulsory for the admission process so that all students in state universities have this number starting from this session. The universities are pursuing those who have taken admission in the previous years to create their ID.”It may be stated here that admission process is underway in various under-graduate and post- graduate courses in the state. In Ranchi University (RU), the last date for admission in UG courses is June 29 while for the PG courses it was Tuesday.Before the latest order the students had the option to skip the column related Apaar ID when he or she opened the chancellor portal for filling application. Now filling up of the column would become compulsory, a university official stated. He opined that presently a large number of students have not created their Apaar ID in RU.
