Patna: Two youths died in a road accident late Sunday night near Dhowapul under Fatuha police station area of Patna district after an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind. The deceased were identified as Shalu Kumar (19), son of Vishnudhari Yadav, and Deepak Kumar (20), son of Modir Mistry, both residents of Dumri village in Fatuha area.According to police, the two youths were riding the same motorcycle to Mahajani village under Gaurichak police station area to attend a wedding on Sunday night. While returning home around midnight, an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit their bike near Dhowapul on Fatuha-Daniyawan road.The impact of the collision threw both riders off the road, leaving them critically injured. A police patrol team passing through the area spotted the injured youths and rushed them to Fatuha sub-divisional hospital. However, doctors declared both of them dead on arrival.The police later sent the bodies to Patna for the postmortem.Fatuha SHO Shrimant Suman said a police team was dispatched to the spot immediately after receiving information about the accident. He said efforts were underway to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run case.The SHO added: “The victims’ families were informed about the accident. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined to identify the vehicle.”
