New Delhi: A miscreant opened fire at a shop in central Delhi’s Nabi Karim before fleeing the scene. While escaping, he also fired warning shots in the air to scare away bystanders. No injuries were reported.The incident took place at a shop that had the office of a builder on the upper floor.Police inquiry revealed that a PCR call regarding the firing incident was received at around 5.10pm. Initial investigation found that two rounds were fired at the shop located in Arya Nagar.Sources said the accused had earlier visited the builder’s office and met the owner on the pretext of looking for a house. He returned to the office Monday afternoon, when an argument broke out between the two over an unspecified issue. As the altercation escalated, the accused allegedly pulled out a pistol and opened fire. The sudden gunfire triggered chaos in the building. People present at the spot tried to overpower and catch the shooter, but he pushed them away and ran out.To create panic and ensure his escape, the accused fired additional rounds into the air while fleeing through the area’s narrow residential lanes.Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Nabi Karim police station rushed to the scene to secure the area and initiate a probe.
