Patna: Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), in collaboration with GIGA Innovations Technologies on Wednesday launched a cyber security and data protection compliance research unit (CS-DPCRU), on its campus.Formally inaugurating the research unit in the presence of legal luminaries, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah of Supreme Court emphasised the growing need for robust legal, technological and governance frameworks to address evolving cyber threats and protect digital rights. He also pleaded for evolving a mechanism to foster responsible innovation in the era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.Patna high court chief justice and CNLU chancellor Meenakshi Madan Rai, Justice Nani Tagia, Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma, advocate general Satya Darshi Sanjay, CNLU vice-chancellor Faizan Mustafa, registrar S P Singh and GIGA Innovations Technologies’ managing director Thogaru Abhishek Reddy also spoke on the occasion.The vice-chancellor said establishment of the CS-DPCRU marks a significant milestone in strengthening India’s cyber resilience by creating an interdisciplinary platform that bridges academia, government, industry and the judiciary. The research unit aims at facilitating the implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, national cyber security initiatives, AI governance frameworks, and emerging regulatory requirements through cutting-edge research and executive education.
