MUMBAI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Raigad, Palghar and Thane on Thursday, warning of moderate to intense spells of rain at isolated places.The warning, issued at 7 am and valid for three hours, said such rain conditions are very likely to occur in isolated pockets across the region.The alert comes after Mumbai recorded heavy rainfall overnight. Santacruz recorded the highest rainfall of 165.9 mm between 8.30 am on July 1 and 5.30 am on July 2.Other areas also witnessed heavy showers, including Juhu with 164.5 mm, Vikhroli with 163 mm, Ram Mandir with 157 mm, Bandra with 141.5 mm and Vidyavihar with 132 mm.Sion recorded 115 mm of rain, while Chembur received 99.5 mm, Colaba 99 mm and Byculla 97.5 mm during the same period.
