Class X student abducted by juniors outside school in Patna, rescued within hours; police begin probe

Patna: A 17-year-old Class X pass-out was allegedly abducted in an SUV by a group of junior students from outside a school in Patna and assaulted inside the vehicle. Police, however, traced and rescued the teenager within hours and are now probing the circumstances surrounding the incident.According to the police, they received information in the afternoon that the boy had been taken away in an SUV from outside the school. Acting swiftly, police teams traced the victim and ensured his safe recovery.ASP (law and order-I) Krishna Murari Prasad said the exact motive remains unclear as the children involved have not been able to explain their actions. “We are using both technical and human intelligence, scrutinising CCTV footage and recording statements to establish the sequence of events.”The ASP said preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident stemmed from a dispute involving a junior student of the same school. The victim told police that those who took him away later dropped him near the school before leaving. “The boy had come to the school to collect his Class X marksheet and migration certificate. A junior student, also in Class X, spotted him and, along with three to four friends, allegedly abducted him in an SUV from outside the school gate and assaulted him inside the vehicle. They dropped him at the same spot about half an hour later,” Prasad said.Police are also examining whether there was any negligence on the part of the school administration in ensuring student safety and whether there were any lapses in parental supervision, he added. The investigation is underway.
