Gaya: Magadh University (MU) administration on Friday ordered suspension of Gaya College assistant professor of Sanskrit department Shivji Pandey. Following the order by acting vice-chancellor Dilip Kumar Keshari, registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam issued a notification in this regard.The action was taken against Pandey following a viral video in which he was seen involved in alleged misbehavior and indecent conduct against an assistant woman teacher in the same department working for the last seven years. Following the complaint, the acting vice-chancellor constituted a high-level committee to conduct a probe into the matter. The suspension order was issued based on the reports and recommendation submitted by the committee.During the suspension period, Pandey has been shifted to ANS College, Nabinagar (Aurangabad). He will receive a living allowance during the suspension period. However, the release of his regular salary will resume only after thorough verification of his work experience.The woman teacher had lodged a complaint with Rampur police station on Wednesday against Pandey alleging harassment, mental torture, verbal abuse and physical assault by him. MU sources said after the video was circulated on social media, it had drawn the attention of Lok Bhavan as well as the chief minister’s office.
