Man kills wife at in-laws’ house in Muzaffarpur

Patna: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Nawada village under Rajepur police station area of Muzaffarpur district early Monday morning. The accused allegedly slit his wife’s throat with a sharp weapon and escaped from the spot. The accused husband worked in Dubai and returned to his in-laws’ house on Sunday to attend his sister-in-law’s wedding.The deceased was identified as Rinku Devi, wife of Manoj Kumar. The couple got married seven years ago and have two children.According to Rinku’s mother Meena Devi, “Manoj asked his wife to bring all her jewellery for the wedding. She brought everything since it was her younger sister’s wedding. Manoj then said he would not return to Dubai. There was an argument between Manoj and Rinku around 3am on Monday. Hearing loud noises, my younger daughter and I went to Rinku’s room and pacified the couple. Later, I took both children to my room.”Cops said at around 5am, Rinku’s 1.5-year-old child started crying. When Meena went to Rinku’s room and called out, there was no response. Family members broke open the door and found Rinku lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit. After committing the crime, Manoj allegedly broke the room’s window and fled.On getting information, police reached the spot. The body was sent to sadar hospital for postmortem.Rajepur SHO Neeraj Kumar Singh said, “A sickle suspected to be used in the murder was recovered from the spot. An FSL team also collected samples from the scene. An FIR was registered on the statement of the victim’s father Rajendra Bhagat. Manoj is absconding. Police are tracing his mobile and conducting raids at possible locations to nab him.”
