Patna: Patna University (PU) colleges on Tuesday began first-semester classes of the four-year undergraduate programme for the 2026-27 academic session.For many students, it was a lifetime experience as they arrived at their respective colleges for their first classes with excitement and enthusiasm.Mayank, a first semester student at Patna Science College, was barely able to contain his excitement. “I am very excited. All of us know how life-changing these years could be. I hope the first day is as great an experience as I’ve imagined it to be,” he said.“It’s indeed important that the first day is a great experience,” said Suparna, a first semester arts student of Magadh Mahila College. “The first day in college is going to come only once in your life, so it has to be special,” she said.Newcomers were also seen attending their classes at Patna College, B N College and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya. However, the number of students attending their classes on the first day was much less than expected as the process of admission of students against vacant seats in different colleges is yet to be completed.Admission of students to the self-financing courses is yet to begin, even though the results of entrance tests have been announced. All the admissions to the undergraduate courses are likely to be completed by July 10, said PU students’ welfare dean Kameshwar Pandit.
