Ranchi: The district legal services authority (DLSA) has facilitated measures for rehabilitation of a seven-year-old orphaned boy by admitting him in a school and helping provide Rs 5 lakh under the victim compensation scheme.DLSA said the boy lost his mother earlier due to ailments. His father was murdered in Morabadi area of Ranchi in Oct 2019. Subsequently, he used to beg for a living.DLSA further said that following the direction of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JhalsaA) executive chairman and Jharkhand high court judge Justice S N Prasad, a team comprising DLSA members and Lalpur police rescued the boy from Gumla district and admitted him in Netaji Subhas Chandra Awasiya Vidyalaya recently.In a statement, it said, “After approval of compensation, the school has been instructed that Rs 1 lakh be kept for his studies while the remaining be converted into fixed deposit, which would be reimbursed once he reaches 18 years. The boy, who is studying in Class 3, is now aiming to become a police officer.”DLSA appealed that if any citizen finds a child in a helpless state in their locality or any person wants to seek legal aid, they should submit an application.
