Palamu woman arrested for killing two daughters after argument with husband

Daltonganj: A 27-year-old woman allegedly killed her two minor daughters by throwing them into a well after an argument with her husband at Kanda village under Nawa bazaar police station limits in Palamu on Wednesday night.The incident took place around 9 pm. Nawa bazaar police station officer in charge Sanjay Yadav said, “There was a tiff between Chhote Lal Prajapati, 34 and his wife Sarita, 27, on Wednesday night.”Upset over daily quarrels, Sarita first snatched her youngest daughter — Dolly — aged around two-and-a-half years, from the lap of her grandmother while she was asleep, ran to a nearby well and threw her into it.Sarita then did the same with her second daughter, Priya, 4, who was also sleeping at the time.Police said Sarita then tried to throw her eldest daughter Khushboo, 7, into the well, but failed. Khushboo began crying loudly and physically resisted her mother, saving herself.Sarita then jumped into the well herself, but villagers who had gathered at the spot by then pulled her out. The well had about 14 feet of water. Both children died instantly.Prajapati’s father, Govind, lodged an FIR at Nawa bazaar police station on the night of July 8 against his daughter-in-law Sarita.Police arrested and sent Sarita to jail on Thursday on charges of killing her daughters, the officer said.
