Patna: Police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Nalanda district after abducting her from a field where she had gone with her aunt on Wednesday evening.According to police, the incident occurred around 8pm when the minor and her aunt had gone to an agricultural field near their village to relieve themselves. While they were returning home, two local youths allegedly intercepted them. Sensing danger, the aunt resisted and managed to escape before running back to the village to alert family members and residents. The girl also tried to flee but fell while running. The accused allegedly caught hold of her and dragged her to a nearby bamboo grove. The accused tied the girl’s hands and feet, gagged her, and then allegedly sexually assaulted her.Acting on information, family members and villagers rushed to the area and found the girl in distress inside the bamboo grove. Taking advantage of the darkness, the accused allegedly fled after threatening her with dire consequences if she reported the crime.Following the incident, local police launched an intensive search operation and arrested both accused within hours. A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Pocso Act has been registered based on the rape survivor’s statement. The rape survivor was taken to hospital under police protection, where her medical examination was conducted.SHO Suman Kumar said, “FSL and Dog Squad teams collected multiple pieces of evidence from the spot and preserved them for forensic examination.” The survivor’s medical examination has also been conducted, he said.The SHO said that both arrested persons have prior criminal records involving petty offences and disturbances. “Their past records are being examined as part of the investigation. Investigation is underway and efforts are being made to ensure a watertight chargesheet,” he added.
