Kolkata: The probe into dismissed BDO Prashanta Barman’s alleged role in jeweller Swapan Kumilya’s murder intensified after the SIT and a team of cops searched Barman’s New Town flat on Wednesday night and a forensic team collected samples from the apartment. The team collected several documents from the house for examination.Last Oct, 48-year-old gold trader Swapan Kamilya of Duttabad in Salt Lake was abducted and allegedly murdered. Former Rajganj BDO Barman’s name surfaced during the investigation, with allegations that he and his associates had abducted and killed Kamilya. Barman had remained absconding since the incident till he was handed over to New Town cops by locals in a hit and run incident on May 25. But he walked out on bail the very next day. Case documents related to the murder probe allegedly hadn’t reached the Barasat court and the IO did not appear during proceedings, resulting in his bail.
