Four borewell workers electrocuted near Mamallapuram

CHENNAI: Four workers were electrocuted and another was injured after they came in contact with a live wire while they were drilling a borewell near the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation petrol bunk on the East Coast Road in Mamallapuram on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Prabhu, 22, of Neikuppi village, Balaji, 33, of Vasanthapuri, Rajendran, 55, of Kadambadi and Badsha, 45, of Mamallapuram.Bhagawan of Karanai village sustained electric shock and injuries. He survived as he fell away from the point of contact. He was admitted to the Government Hospital in Chengalpet.The bodies were sent for postmortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the electrocution.
