NEW DELHI: A sub-inspector died by suicide after allegedly shooting himself with his service pistol inside the premises of Madhu Vihar Police Station.The deceased was identified as Somesh, who was posted at Madhu Vihar Police Station. According to police, the incident came to light at around 12.20 pm, when he allegedly shot himself in the head with his service pistol inside a room. He was found with a gunshot injury, and senior officers, along with forensic experts, reached the spot to initiate an investigation.Police said that earlier in the day, Somesh had met the Station House Officer (SHO) and informed him that he was leaving for court duty. However, he never reached the court.The body was taken for a postmortem examination, while police are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident. “His wife claimed that he was suffering from some kind of depression,” a police officer said. Police said they are examining all aspects of the case, though no foul play has been suspected so far. He had joined the Delhi Police in 2019 and lived with his wife in Siddharth Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. No suicide note has been recovered.
