Dumka: A resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh attacked his wife and mother-in-law with a sharp-edged weapon at Rasulpur Dahla late Sunday, leaving both seriously injured, police said on Monday.Rukhsana Khatun, 30, married Mohammad Sharif around four months ago but was staying at her parental home in Sahibganj. Mohammad reportedly arrived in Sahibganj a week ago, police added.Quoting family members of the injured, officer in-charge of Sahibganj Town police station Amit Gupta said, “Mohammad attacked the two following an argument. Rukhsana suffered a deep cut on her neck and was referred to a higher medical centre after being administered primary treatment at the Sadar Hospital. Her mother, Majida Khatun, 55, sustained a stab injury in her abdomen and is admitted at the Sadar Hospital.”“An FIR was lodged by the accused’s brother-in-law. Efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused,” he said.
