Chennai: A group of juveniles reportedly damaged furniture and other property inside a govt special home in Chengalpet on Thursday in a suspected attempt to escape the facility. Police rushed to the facility on information from the panicked staff, and brought the situation under control.Security has been tightened and additional police personnel have been deployed at the observation home to prevent further unrest, and an inquiry has been initiated.The incident comes amid a series of incidents at the observation home for juveniles in conflict with the law, where inmates have repeatedly been involved in violent clashes, vandalism and escape attempts. Last month, five juveniles escaped from the facility, and while two were traced and secured, three remain absconding.
