Daltonganj: A 50-year-old private security guard was shot dead by three bike-borne criminals in Daltonganj town late on Sunday night. The deceased, Vinod Pandey, was posted at a building complex and hailed from Nawa Bazar block in Palamu district, police said on Monday.Rajesh Yadav, SDPO Sadar, said Pandey was shot at close range and died on the spot. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area. “Police have got a clue about the three persons. They will be nabbed soon,” he said.According to the SDPO, a birthday party was held for one Vishnu Ram at the building complex on July 15. A brawl broke out over loud music, during which the complex manager, Sonu Singh, allegedly hit Ram with a chair, causing a head injury. Singh was later arrested and sent to jail.“Last night’s incident could be a fallout of that brawl. But further probe is on,” Yadav said.Police suspect the assailants may have been looking for the complex owner. When they could not find him, they allegedly targeted the security guard instead.Police said one of the assailants entered the complex while the other two waited outside..
