Patna: Expressing dissatisfaction over delays in some ongoing infrastructure projects, the building construction department has directed officials to speed up execution while maintaining high construction standards, warning that there will be no compromise on quality or project deadlines.The directive was issued by secretary Pranav Kumar during a high-level review meeting held at Vishvesvaraya Bhawan in Patna on Tuesday. He directed the chief engineer to conduct continuous monitoring of projects and emphasized that strict supervision of construction quality must be ensured. He also instructed officials to remove all obstacles delaying execution.During the meeting, the secretary reviewed the physical progress, quality standards and implementation timelines of several flagship projects being executed by the department, including the APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna, Bihar Engineering University (BEU), the Integrated Government Building (Sanyukt Bhawan), Agricultural Biotechnology College (ABC) at Sabour, Agricultural Engineering College (AEC) in Ara, the JEEViKA headquarters building and the Bihar Legislative Assembly Digital Museum.The secretary was informed that the infrastructure work for the ABC at Sabour in Bhagalpur district is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by December this year. The project includes a G+3 academic and administrative building, students’ hostels and an animal house.The construction of BEU in Patna, spread across nearly five acres, is almost complete. Finishing work and campus cleaning are currently underway. Kumar directed officials to complete all remaining work within a week.He also reviewed the progress of the AEC at Ara, where the guesthouse, boys’ hostel and girls’ hostel have reached an advanced stage of construction.At Science City, the secretary reviewed installation work for the “Sustainable Planet”, “Astronomy and Space”, and “Body and Mind” galleries under Phase II, while directing officials to expedite the installation of the remaining exhibits under Phase I.The meeting also reviewed the proposed G+7 JEEViKA Headquarters in Patna, where the construction agency has been selected and barricading work is underway. Officials were also instructed to accelerate the completion of the under-construction Integrated Government Building.Another major project under review was the assembly’s Digital Museum, being built on a 1.74-acre site. The museum will digitally showcase the history of the Bihar legislature over the past century, including information on all former chief ministers, assembly Speakers, legislative council chairpersons and members of the legislative assembly.
