Jamshedpur: West Singhbhum deputy commissioner Manish Kumar and superintendent of police Amit Renu on Friday reviewed security, traffic and administrative arrangements ahead of the month-long Shravani fair at Baba Mahadevsal Dham in Goilkera scheduled to begin on Aug 2.Emphasising that devotees’ safety and security must remain the top priority, the DC directed officials to ensure adequate deployment of police personnel and magistrates around the temple premises. He ordered barricading for crowd management and streamlined entry and exit routes for smooth pilgrim movement.To reduce congestion, officials were told to create separate parking areas, use alternative traffic routes whenever needed, and ensure efficient transport services. “A special traffic management plan should be implemented every Monday during the holy month, when the influx of devotees is expected to be significantly higher,” DC said.Chakradharpur sub-divisional officer Shruti Rajlakshmi said drone cameras would be deployed for aerial surveillance along with static CCTV cameras across the fairgrounds. With thousands expected at the shrine, the administration has made special arrangements for cleanliness and sanitation throughout the fair.The Mahadevsal Shravani Mela Committee has revised this year’s parking plan to ease traffic congestion. “Vehicles will be stopped around 200 metres before the road bridge, requiring devotees to walk nearly one kilometre to reach the shrine. DJ vehicles will be halted three kilometres before the temple premises,” said Ramchandra Prasad, Secretary of the Mahadevsal Shravani Mela Committee.He said special health camps would be organised every Sunday and Monday, while a medical team led by Goilkera Community Health Centre in charge Dr Jaishree Kiran would oversee healthcare arrangements.Located amid the Saranda forests near Goilkera on the Howrah–Mumbai main line, the shrine draws Lord Shiva devotees from Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh for prayers and jalabhishek. Singhbhum MP Jobha Majhi will inaugurate the fair on Sunday.-0
