2 kids on way to tuition crushed by tractor in Nalanda

Patna: Two children were killed after a speeding tractor hit their bicycle and ran them over near Sinthu village under Manpur police station area in Nalanda district on Friday evening.The victims were on their way to tuition classes when the accident occurred. The tractor driver fled the spot, triggering a three-hour road blockade by angry villagers and family members, who demanded compensation and strict action against the accused.The deceased were identified as Rishikesh Kumar (8), son of Rambhajan Chauhan of Bishunpur village, and Pankaj Kumar (6), son of Ranjeet Chauhan of Sinthu village. Rishikesh had been living at his maternal home in Sinthu Tadapar village for studies.According to family members, the boys left together on a bicycle to attend tuition classes run by Rishikesh’s maternal uncle, Gautam Kumar, near Sinthu High School. Locals alleged that a speeding tractor, driven by a drunken driver, rammed into the bicycle and crushed the children, killing them on the spot.Following the accident, villagers blocked the road from around 4pm to 7pm and refused to allow police to remove the bodies. Police later reached the spot and pacified the protesters.Sadar SDPO-1 Amarnath said the situation was now under control. “The tractor involved in the accident has been seized. The driver fled, leaving the vehicle behind. Efforts are on to identify and arrest him. Further legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint from the family,” he said.After post-mortem examination at Sadar Hospital, the bodies were handed over to the families.
