Patna: Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) has stepped up monsoon preparedness measures to ensure safe and uninterrupted train operations during the rainy season. The division has launched round-the-clock monitoring of railway tracks and put in place arrangements to tackle waterlogging and other rain-related challenges.According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth, special teams have been deployed for round the clock inspection of vulnerable stretches to monitor water levels near tracks and bridges. Necessary measures are being taken to prevent disruptions caused by heavy rainfall and rising water levels, he said.The division has also stocked sandbags, stone chips and boulders at identified locations for immediate use during emergencies to check water accumulation and protect railway infrastructure.As part of its monsoon safety plan, cross drains have been constructed along tracks to ensure proper drainage of rainwater and prevent damage to rail infrastructure. Regular cleaning and maintenance of drainage systems are also being carried out.Siddarth said the railway administration is maintaining close coordination with the meteorological department to receive timely weather updates and forecasts. Based on these inputs, precautionary measures are being taken in advance.Field officials and engineering teams have been directed to remain on alert throughout the monsoon season to ensure passenger safety and prevent disruption to train services due to adverse weather conditions, he added.
