Daltonganj: On July 25, Rahul Kumar alias Rahul Ram allegedly struck Prabhat Kumar Mehta with a brick on his head following a dispute, leading to his death. Scared, Ram then fled to Bengaluru to evade arrest. However, his luck ran out on July 29 after he was tracked down to Rajanukunte in Bengaluru and arrested. A police team brought him back by air and produced him before a court in Daltonganj on Friday.The body of Mehta (28) was found inside an under-construction building at Pandeypoora Karoriya under Paton police station limits. His father Thakur Dayal Mehta had registered a kidnapping case with the police.Palamu SP Kapil Chaudhary said Ram, also 28, knew Mehta and hit him under the influence of drugs. “A team of district police, led by Sadar sub-divisional police officer Rajesh Yadav, conducted surveillance in Rajanukunte for two-three days before arresting Ram,” SP said.news3636@gmail.com
