NEW DELHI: A couple was killed after the roof of a house collapsed in Delhi’s JP Nagar area, officials said on Monday.The incident took place in the Jaiprakash Nagar area of Usmanpur in North-East Delhi on Sunday night.According to officials, the victims were identified as Tinku (32) and his wife, Urmila (30).Both were rescued from the rubble by local residents and police personnel following the collapse.The couple was rushed to Jag Pravesh Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. CMO Dr Santosh confirmed the deaths, according to STO Sunil Sagar.The roof collapse triggered panic among residents, with locals rushing to help those trapped under the debris.Police teams reached the spot and began rescue operations.The exact reason behind the roof collapse is yet to be ascertained. Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry into the incident.(With agency inputs)
