Koderma: Two residents, including a woman, of Madhopur village under the Satgawan police station limits were arrested from their homes on charges of sharing anti-national content on social media platforms and attempting to radicalise youths, Koderma police said.The accused were identified as Arsad Mahfuj and Shaheen Parveen alias Muskan, both aged 21 years, police added.Acting on inputs received from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Ranchi, a special investigation team was constituted under officer in-charge of the Telaiya police station Vinay Kumar.Koderma SP Kumar Shivashish said, “The accused used Instagram to spread extremist ideology, promote jihadist materials, and brainwash young people. They were linked to people in Pakistan through social media platforms and were active in WhatsApp groups featuring Pakistani phone numbers.”Photos and videos recovered from Arsad’s mobile phone showed military-style training sessions in a nearby forest, raising suspicion of a larger conspiracy. During the search of Arsad’s house, police recovered a tablet, smartphone, tripod, knife, country-made pistol-like weapon and bulletproof-like vest. Based on his revelations, police personnel raided Shaheen Parveen’s house and seized two smartphones and a video camera containing objectionable materials, police added.An FIR has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Information Technology Act, Arms Act, and the UAPA. The seized devices, posts, and training videos indicate a threat to public safety. Further investigation is under way, the SP said.
