CHENNAI: DMK president MK Stalin has urged the Union government to address concerns over the proposed Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) Amendment Bill 2026, backing a delegation that sought its withdrawal and a review of the existing law.Stalin’s remarks came after a meeting in New Delhi on August 6, where a delegation from the Joint Action Forum on Minorities, led by DMK MP P Wilson and comprising religious leaders from across India, met Union home minister Amit Shah.The delegation urged the Centre to withdraw the FCRA Amendment Bill 2026, introduced in the Lok Sabha in March, repeal Section 15 of the Act, and refer the bill, along with a comprehensive review of the 2010 Act, to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed scrutiny.Stalin endorsed the Forum’s demands and reiterated the DMK’s opposition to the proposed provisions, citing their implications for minority rights. He urged the Centre to consider the delegation’s demands and take necessary steps during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
