Woman killed, eye gouged out; 2 held in Kaimur

Sasaram: A 65-year-old woman was allegedly tortured and murdered at her home in Leva village under Adhaura police station area of Kaimur district on Tuesday night. Her family claimed that one of her eyes was gouged out and her face branded with a hot iron rod before she was killed.The victim, Murahi Devi, wife of Nattu Singh, was found dead on Wednesday morning. Family members alleged that she was subjected to severe physical assault before being killed. Her sons, Awadh Lal Singh and Sona Lal Singh, claimed that one of her eyes had been gouged out while the other had sustained injuries.Based on a complaint lodged by Awadh Lal Singh, police registered a murder case against six residents of the village. The accused have been identified as Leelawati Devi, her sons Nandan Singh, Ram Pravesh Singh and Ramesh Singh, and her daughters Kabutari Kumari and Goonja Kumari.Bhabua SDPO Om Prakash said police have arrested Leelawati Devi and Goonja Kumari in connection with the case. The two are being interrogated, while raids are under way to apprehend the remaining accused.The body was sent to Bhabua Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. A forensic team also visited the crime scene and collected evidence. “Investigations are under way to establish the motive and circumstances behind the killing,” the SDPO said.
