Ranchi: The district administration has tightened security to maintain law and order and manage crowds during the Independence Day function at Morabadi ground on Saturday.Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said, “The administration has made all the preparations for the flag hoisting ceremony. Adequate police personnel would be deployed at the venue. The administration would be on watch for anti-social elements among the crowd.”Around 19 drop gates have been set up around the ground, where magistrates, police officers and police personnel will be deployed. Police will also be posted at over a dozen locations across the city.The entire function area, including the stage, VIP galleries, invited guests’ enclosure, spectators’ area and parking zones, will undergo anti-sabotage checks with sniffer dogs.Visitors will be frisked as per prescribed norms to prevent the entry of anti-social elements and unwanted articles into the galleries. Flying of drones at the venue has been banned, except those operated by the information and public relations department.The traffic wing will deploy additional personnel at Karamtoli Chowk, Old Jail Chowk, Parade Ground, Ranchi College, Administrative Training Institute Road, Sidhu Kanho Road, State Guest House and near the senior superintendent of police’s residence to prevent congestion after the function.Vehicle entry into the city will remain prohibited from 6am to 10pm on Saturday.
