Bokaro: A 45-year-old man was killed on NH-23 under Balidih police station limits late on Tuesday when his motorcycle was hit from behind by a speeding SUV. The deceased, identified as Arvind Verma, was a native of Uttar Pradesh. Verma, a manager at IRCTC base kitchen in Bokaro, was heading to work in the Balidih area when the incident took place near Goswami Tola on the Balidih-Jainamore stretch of NH-23.Eyewitnesses said Verma was about to cross the road on his two-wheeler when a speeding SUV coming from Bokaro rammed into him. The impact was severe and dragged him for nearly 30 metres, killing him on the spot.Balidih police station inspector Jitendra Kumar said the SUV was seized. “The vehicle was travelling at high speed and appears to have gone out of control. The driver is being traced and will be arrested soon,” he said.Police are informing Verma’s family, and further legal action is underway. Officials said the case is being investigated based on eyewitness accounts and vehicle details recovered from the accident site.
