Dhanbad police take cyber safety drive to DAV students

Dhanbad: Dhanbad Police on Wednesday intensified its district-wide cyber awareness campaign at DAV School, Koyla Nagar, under the leadership of senior superintendent of police Prabhat Kumar.Rural SP S Mohammad Yakub addressed students, explaining common cybercrimes, financial and personal risks, and precautions for safe digital use. He said technology had made life easier, but cybercriminals were constantly finding new ways to deceive users.Students were cautioned not to click unknown links, respond to suspicious calls or messages, or share personal or banking details. Yakub said fraudsters often impersonate bank officials, police officers, relatives or reputed institutions’ staff, and lure victims with fake prizes, jobs, investments, loans, KYC updates and electricity bill alerts.Police advised students never to disclose OTPs, ATM or debit card details, account information, passwords or sensitive data, and to use strong passwords. They were also warned against accepting unknown social media requests, sharing private photos or forwarding suspicious links.Yakub urged immediate reporting of cyber fraud and asked students to spread awareness. Students raised questions too. Cyber DSP Pradeep Kumar Saw said programmes build early awareness.
