Gaya: The much-awaited MU senate meeting, the university’s apex body, will be held on Aug 22 to consider matters related to finance, academics and administration. University financial adviser Arun Prasad Srivastava will present the annual statement of accounts and the university budget for 2026-27.The meeting could not be held before the previous financial year ended on March 31 due to the absence of a regular VC. Officiating VC Dilip Kumar Keshari required permission from governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain to convene the senate. The chancellor gave the go-ahead on Aug 11 and also authorised Keshari to preside over the meeting.MU registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam said the 2026-27 budget would be the main agenda. He said the delay would have no adverse financial implications as an advance copy had already been sent to the higher education department of the state govt for inclusion in its allocations.Changes made to the syllabus through ordinances issued by the chancellor will also be placed before the Senate for approval. The budget covers salaries and allowances of nearly 1,200 teaching and non-teaching employees across two dozen PG departments, 19 constituent colleges and one govt-funded minority college. It also includes pension and post-retirement entitlements of about 4,500 retired personnel. The senate will consider recommendations on affiliation and appointments of assistant professors in nearly a dozen subjects. Resolutions passed by statutory bodies since the previous senate meeting on Feb 2 last year will also be placed for approval.
