Patna: The directorate of secondary education, Bihar, announced the start of admissions for the 2026-27 academic session in model schools across all state blocks on Friday.Under the “Advanced Education – Bright Future” initiative, one senior secondary school in each block is being developed as a model school to ensure quality education. Admissions for grade 9 will follow a merit-based system utilising scores from the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship examination.The deadline for completing the admission process is April 30.Priority will be given to students who secure at least 50% in the examination. Each school intends to fill 40 seats for grade 9. If the number of qualifying examinees is lower than the available seats, administrators will select students based on their grade 8 marks. The district education officer will resolve disputes regarding the selection process.Applicants must provide a transfer certificate, birth certificate, residency certificate, caste certificate, photographs and bank details. Fees of the schools match with those of standard govt schools. Students from private schools are excluded from this session, though a future entrance test may allow their participation.Information is available on school notice boards and the official portal of the education department.
