Daltonganj: Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj, has adopted a cautious approach towards candidates presenting yellow ‘unique disability identity (UDID)’ cards during undergraduate MBBS admissions, with authorities insisting on stringent verification to rule out any irregularities, sources said.Under the UDID classification system, a white card is issued to persons with disabilities below 40%, a yellow card for disabilities ranging between 40% and 79%, and a blue card for disability of 80% and above. White cards do not provide reservation benefits in MBBS admissions, making yellow UDID cards the most commonly presented disability document during counselling and admissions for benefits under the disability quota.MMCH principal Dr Jakka Srinivas Rao said, “The institution remains vigilant while examining disability certificates. Every yellow UDID card submitted during MBBS admissions is put under rigorous verification to rule out any possibility of manipulation.”After residential and caste certificates, disability documents are among the records that draw strict scrutiny during the admission process. Disabilities covered under the UDID framework include locomotor disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, speech and language disability, among others. Claims related to hearing impairment often require additional verification, medical sources said.A candidate claiming hearing impairment reportedly sought admission under the disability category but chose not to proceed after being informed that an audiometry test would be required during the 2025 MBBS admission process, they added.
