Jamshedpur: A day after two missing youths were found buried in a forested area of Gamharia, Seraikela-Kharsawan police arrested Phulchand Raghunath Hansda (22) and Ravinder Mardi(25) and sent them to judicial custody on Sunday.Seraikela SDPO Abhinav Bhardwaj said the arrests were made on evidence collected during the investigation. The accused and victims Rahul Hansda(23) and Tapan Pradhan(21) were residents of Pindrabera village under Kandra police station.Police said the murders allegedly stemmed from a stolen mobile phone. Kandra OC Vinod Murmu said Rahul had allegedly stolen Phulchand’s phone in early August and later agreed to return it for money, but a dispute arose over the amount.On August 13, Rahul, Tapan and friend Suraj Hansda were at a ground near agovt school in Dhatkidih when Phulchand, Ravinder and two accomplices allegedly assaulted Rahul and Tapan. Suraj was allowed to leave. The injured duo collapsed while walking home. Police said the accused loaded the bodies into a four-wheeler and buried them in a forested area near the Ramchandrapur-Rapcha football ground under Gamharia police station limits.“Two other accused, who are currently absconding, will be arrested soon,” said the officer.Police are probing whether another possible motive existed.
