Ara: A 35-year-old social media content creator allegedly died by suicide in Ara of Bhojpur district early on Monday. Hours before her death, she had posted three reels on emotional Bhojpuri and Hindi songs on social media, where she had more than 22,000 followers.According to police, the deceased, Sarita Devi, wife of Umesh Sharma, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence. The case appears to be a suicide, though the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, said Ara Nawada police station SHO Vipin Bihari.“According to her husband, she was crying and talking to someone on the phone on Sunday night. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. No complaint has been lodged so far, but an investigation is underway,” the SHO said. He added that police had seized Sarita’s cellphone and were examining it, along with her recent social media activity, for clues.Speaking to reporters, Sarita’s husband, Umesh Sharma, a carpenter, said she had gone to Ramna Maidan on Sunday evening with her team to shoot reels and returned home after 8pm.“At around 10pm, she asked me to go to sleep, saying she had to make some videos. She was talking to someone on the phone and was crying. When I woke up around 3am, I found her hanging from a sari tied to the ceiling fan,” he said.The family informed the police, who arrived at the spot and sent the body for postmortem.According to family members, Sarita had been active on social media for the past five years and often created Bhojpuri reels with her team. Her husband said she enjoyed making videos and earning from social media and had never spoken about any major problem that was troubling her.Police are awaiting the postmortem report and investigation.
