Kolkata: ‘Nandigram to Nabanna: Bubair Joyjatra (Bubai’s Journey of Victory)’ will be the theme for the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Durga Puja at Ruby More, where chief minister Suvendu Adhikari’s political journey will be represented through various visuals and models. Adhikari is popularly known as ‘Bubai’ in his circles.“For the first time in Bengal, the land of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a Sanatani nationalist BJP govt has been formed under the leadership of chief minister Suvendu Adhikari. To commemorate this event, we have chosen this theme (‘Nandigram to Nabanna: Bubair Joyjatra’) for Durga Puja,” Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha state president Chandrachur Goswami said on Wednesday. The idol of Durga was being molded with soil from an Adi Ganga ghat in Kalighat, which belonged to Hindu Mahasabha, Goswami added. The organisers have already written to Adhikari, requesting him to inaugurate the puja as the chief guest. The members plans to visit Adhikari’s Contai home to invite his parents, politician Sisir Adhikari and Gayatri Adhikari.The work on the pandal at the Ruby crossing has already begun. A member of the committee said they planned as a visual narrative, combining historical references with aesthetic elements. The pandal will chronicle different phases of Adhikari’s life, including his childhood, entry into politics, his roles in various political movements, and his emergence as the chief minister through a combination of models, flex panels, photographs, murals, traditional Bengali patachitra motifs and a documentary. A bust of Adhikari will be placed outside the pandal, while the pandal will be decorated with photographs, including a portrait of Adhikari, displaying moments from his career. The documentary, which is being produced, would be screened during the puja, said a committee member, adding that messages from the public would be included in the film.Organisers expect the theme and the visual presentation would be a crowd-puller.Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, had during the 2022 Durga Puja sparked outrage by modelling Mahishasura on a bald figure with spectacles, resembling Mahatma Gandhi. The Trinamool had condemned the idol and demanded state action. Following a police complaint, organisers were forced to add hair and a moustache to the idol to alter the look. The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha had, however, claimed the resemblance was coincidental.
