Patna: RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday appealed to party workers in districts along the Gandak basin to help alert residents and assist the administration amid concerns over a possible rise in the river’s water level following heavy water flow from Nepal.“It is our plea to the party (RJD) workers to make people aware of the emerging situation by marshalling necessary information and warnings to pass it to them, specially in the Gandak basin districts, like West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali,” Tejashwi said in an appeal.He also urged the state govt and administration to issue timely advisories to people living on both sides of the Gandak in the affected districts.“The administration should maintain constant vigil to tackle any emergency situation and accompanying danger, as well as keep itself in the state of readiness to conduct rescue and relief operations. The govt should also maintain vigilance 24×7 to ensure safety of the bunds and embankments,” he said.Tejashwi’s appeal came amid heightened vigilance in Gandak basin following a sharp rise in water flow in rivers in neighbouring Nepal and concerns over a possible increase in the Gandak’s discharge.
