MUMBAI: The Bombay Milk Producers’ Association has raised the wholesale rate of buffalo milk by a record nine rupees from Rs 93 to Rs 102 per litre. The new rates will take effect Sept 1 and will come up for review on Feb 28, 2027.Retail prices will rise correspondingly higher.Association president CK Singh said, “The increase was necessitated by the spiralling cost of animal feed, fodder and sundry items required for milk production. From milch animals to grain, tuvar and chana feed to corn, we are witnessing a hike of upto 25%. Grass and fodder is also far costlier. It is not viable to continue to sell milk at the old rate.”The members of the dairy association unanimously agreed on this increase which is the largest in recent history.
