PATNA: Two coaches of the Alipurduar-New Delhi Mahananda Express ( 15483) derailed near Ara railway station under Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) in the early hours of Sunday. No passenger was injured in the incident.According to preliminary investigation, the incident occurred around 4 am when the loco pilot allegedly overshot a signal.After realising that the signal was not meant for his train, the loco pilot moved the train backwards towards the loop line following which two wheels of the coaches got derailed, ECR CPRO Saraswati Chandra said .Railway officials immediately rushed a rescue and restoration team to the spot.The affected track was cleared on priority and normal movement was restored after the coaches were attended to.The Mahananda Express resumed its onward journey at around 7.23am after completion of the necessary procedures, he said.Railway authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the derailment.Senior officials of the Danapur division are monitoring the situation and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, sources said.
