Ranchi: Hundreds of students marched from Bapu Vatika in Morabadi to Birsa Samadhi Sthal in Kokar on Friday, demanding reforms in Jharkhand’s recruitment examination system. The march marked the culmination of the 18-day yatra by the JPSC-JSSC Abhyarthi Nyay Manch seeking exam reforms.Student activist Devendra Nath Mahto, who observed a 16-day hunger strike in Aug, launched the yatra on Aug 24 near Nemra, chief minister Hemant Soren’s native village. He travelled through all 24 districts to mobilise support for reforms.The marchers passed through Kutchery Chowk, Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, Shaheed Chowk, Plaza Chowk and Lalpur Chowk before culminating at Birsa Samadhi Sthal, where participants paid tribute to tribal icon Birsa Munda.Mahto demanded the cancellation of all examinations conducted by TDPL and those linked to Abhay Tiwari, a key accused in alleged JPSC and JSSC examination irregularities.Organisers claimed their protests had prompted action in 45 cases: 22 exams were put on hold, 17 ordered for investigation and 6 stayed. They said they would continue seeking judicial scrutiny and permanent reforms to ensure transparency.
