NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday alleged that mentioning Aaditya Thackeray in the CBI’s FIR in the Disha Salian death case is part of a “political conspiracy” to tarnish the image of the Thackeray family.Speaking to reporters, Raut said Mumbai Police had already investigated the death of Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and had cleared Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray of any connection with the case.“The way the matter was taken to court, which gave an order (to hand over the case to CBI), is a conspiracy. It has specifically said to conduct a CBI probe but do not name anyone. Yet names are being taken in the media,” Raut told reporters.“This is a political conspiracy by Delhi to tarnish the image of the Thackeray family, which enjoys a place in the hearts of people,” he added.He also claimed that the CBI probe was being used to target Aaditya Thackeray, who has been critical of the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government on several public issues.Raut further alleged that the CBI FIR was being selectively leaked to the media. Referring to the 16-page FIR, he claimed that only one page had been shared.The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also accused the Centre of previously running campaigns against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, the DMK, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and former Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik.He alleged that a similar campaign was now being directed at the Thackeray family amid the ongoing Supreme Court case concerning the bow-and-arrow symbol allotted to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.“The case has reached a turning point and someone is scared,” Raut said, claiming that an impartial verdict could alter Maharashtra’s political landscape and bring the Thackeray family back to centre stage.On September 2, the Bombay high court ordered a CBI probe into Salian’s death and criticised Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years. The court observed that the police investigation raised more questions than answers.On Monday, the CBI registered an FIR into Salian’s death without naming any accused, in compliance with the Bombay High Court’s directions on a petition filed by her father.The FIR content, however, mentions several people, including Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea and Rhea Chakraborty, saying their roles need to be probed.

On Monday, the central probing agency registered an FIR into Salian’s death, naming Aaditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, Aaditya’s bodyguards, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, former police officer Sachin Vaze, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, in compliance with the Bombay High Court’s directions on a petition filed by her father.Salian, 28, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. Mumbai Police registered an accidental death report and later said its inquiry had concluded that she had died by suicide.A week later, Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020. The proximity of the two deaths led to speculation about a possible connection between them.
