Chennai: Kothari Industrial Corporation (KICL), part of the DC Kothari group, on Thursday said its entering into the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector through the launch of its beverage portfolio called Chusip, based on tender coconut water. It was priced at Rs 50 for 200ml.The company plans to introduce a wide choice of flavours and aims to distribute them through traditional channels in southern parts of the country. The company plans to later expand geographically, including to international markets and introduce them in ecommerce platforms. Jinnah Rafiq Ahamed, executive director of KICL said this is the first step towards building a portfolio that is focused on nature, health and trust. “Our research findings show there is a trend emerging in India of consumers moving towards healthy, natural and authentic choices. We strongly believe this is the right time to bring back the purity of nature in the form of coconut water sourced from the finest coconut farms. KICL aims to build a Rs 2,500 crore beverage business by 2035,” he said.
