Gaya: Ahead of the fortnight-long PitrapakshMela, set to begin on Friday and continue till Oct 10, MagadhRangeIGVikasVaibhav on Monday reviewed security arrangements, pilgrim movement plans and crowd-management measures in Gaya, where lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad are expected to arrive here to perform pind daan rituals for their ancestors.Accompanied by SSPSushilKumar and CitySPAbhinavDhiman, the IG visited the tent city at Gandhi Maidan and issued necessary directions to officials regarding security and crowd control.The SSP said around 4,000policepersonnel would be deployed round the clock in three shifts to ensure security and manage crowds during the mela. More than 500CCTVcameras will monitor the entire mela area, with live feeds being tracked from a central control room.“As many as 118policecamps will be set up across the mela area. Police personnel deployed there will assist pilgrims and ensure their safety,” Kumar said. Meanwhile, CMSamratChoudhary is likely to inaugurate the fortnight-long mela on Friday.
