NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man died after collapsing during a race while appearing for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PEMT) at the Delhi Police Academy (DPA) in Wazirabad on Monday, police said.The deceased was identified as Saurabh Kumar, son of Lachhi Singh and a resident of Neta Nagar in Salamatpur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Anupshahr.According to police, information was received at Sonia Vihar police station at around 11.11 am from Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital regarding a person who had been brought to the emergency department by a PCR van from DPA, Wazirabad, and was declared brought dead by doctors.Police said Kumar was appearing for the ongoing PEMT at the academy when he suddenly collapsed on the track during the race. He was immediately provided initial medical assistance and was shifted to JPC Hospital by PCR staff.However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, police said.The body has been sent to GTB Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.Police said proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated at Sonia Vihar police station.
