Ranchi: A Congress delegation on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar, alleging irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Citing Chatra assembly constituency, Congress general secretaries Suryakant Shukla and Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo alleged that 1,113 Form-7 objections were submitted on a single day. Form-7 is used to raise an objection to the inclusion or retention of a name in the existing electoral roll.The leaders sought a detailed inquiry into the alleged bulk filing and demanded that constituency-wise data on Forms 6, 7 and 8 be shared with booth-level agents and recognised political parties every week.The delegation also urged the Election Commission to make the hearing process more accessible for voters who have received notices. It sought additional hearing centres and the deployment of more officials to ensure that cases are disposed of within the stipulated time and voters are not inconvenienced.The party further demanded that updated lists showing old and new booth numbers be circulated after the recent rationalisation of polling stations.It also sought correction of alleged errors in the BC-1 category records on the basis of valid caste certificates, saying no eligible voter should be excluded from the electoral roll because of clerical or technical errors.Kumar assured the delegation that its concerns would be examined and necessary action taken, the party said. He also reiterated that no genuine voter would be removed from the electoral roll.
